This game may seem meaningless on the surface since Oregon has already wrapped up the Pac 12 North, but…

Well folks, here it is. This is the last weekend of the regular season of college football. I hate how the season has flown by, but there is still some important business to take care of before conference championship games and bowl preparations. For the Sun Devils this week, it’s as big as it gets.

This is not a typo, Arizona is ranked higher in the College Football Playoff Rankings. As Sun Devil fans, we can thank Cal and Washington for blowing late 4th quarter leads and gift wrap a couple victories for them. Arizona has no business being in this position, yet here they are.

The winner of this game will win the Pac 12 South if UCLA falls to Stanford.

Stanford at #8 UCLA (Friday)

This game is almost as important as the contest in Tucson. If the Bruins win they are Pac 12 South Champions. However, if UCLA falls to the Cardinal, the winner of the Territorial Cup game will represent the South in the Championship game against Oregon next Saturday.

On the surface it may seem obvious that we need to root for Stanford. However if the Devils lose to the Wildcats then we want UCLA to win, thus eliminating Arizona from playing the Ducks in the championship game. The best game plan: Ignore what’s happening in Pasadena. We have our own important business.

BYU at Cal

I can’t root for the Cougars hard enough in this one. I would love nothing more than for Cal to miss a bowl game by a single victory. That victory, of course, is the one they gave away to the Wildcats in Tucson.

Prove It

#25 Utah at Colorado

We’re pulling for the Utes even though they did us no favors against Arizona last weekend. We want  another conference team to stay ranked.

Notre Dame @ USC

Like Utah, USC did not help our cause last week by falling hard against UCLA. However, whenever a Pac 12 team beats Notre Dame, it is a good day. Fight on.

#2 Oregon at Oregon State

We all know how well the Beavers can play at home. This game may seem meaningless on the surface since Oregon has already wrapped up the Pac 12 North, but it is actually very important. We want Oregon to win big so that they hold their spot in the top four of the College Football Rankings and give the Pac 12 a shot at a national title.

Washington at Washington State

Another rivalry game is teed up for Saturday. The results wont impact the Sun Devils either way. I’d like to see Coach Mike Leach get a big victory to finish the year. Also, I am still upset at the Huskies for letting one slip away in Tucson and letting the Wildcats hang around in the South.

There you have it. The stakes are at their highest this weekend. Let’s hope the boys in Maroon & Gold earn a big victory today. There are a handful of scenarios that can unfold by the end of today. Let the cards fall as they may.
