We took a moment with Brady White and avoided all of the questions he’s been asked in every interview since spring football. We’d say the over-under on how many times Brady’s been asked about the QB competition with Manny Wilkins is 150, give or take.
DHD: OK, Brady. We’ll give you a word and want to hear the first word that comes to your mind.
Tempe. Brady White: Fun. Very fun.
Rose Bowl. Brady White: Roses.
Coach Graham. Don’t be too careful (as he thinks carefully). Brady White: Boss.
Sun Devil Nation. Brady White: Support.
Pat Tillman. Brady White: True Sun Devil.
[PAUSE] Offensive Coordinator Chip Lindsey passes by. “Brady White’s got the best hair. He’s a real Southern California guy,” he says jokingly. Brady laughs with his new OC/QB coach.
DHD: Alright. Who’s your best friend on the team?
Brady White: I’d say Manny Wilkins. I’m closest to Manny.
DHD: Who’s the funniest guy on the team?
Brady White: Raymond Epps! He’s got jokes like no other. I’m sure there’s been a unanimous response to that.
DHD: Who would you say the is the smartest guy on this 2016 Team?
Brady White: Smartest Guy? I’d like to consider myself smart. (A few of your teammates mentioned you.) Oh, sweet! I would say Nick Ralston or Cam Smith.
DHD: Who’s the hardest hitter? Hopefully, you don’t have any direct experience with that.
Brady White: (Laughs) No I haven’t, but I would say JJ Wilson or Marcus Ball.
DHD: What’s your favorite movie of all time?
Brady White: Wow. Can you give me a genre? (Do you like dramas, comedies, sports-themed movies?) I obviously like football and sports movies, and I like comedy, too. (Say the first movie that comes to mind.) Remember the Titans. I also thought Friday Night Lights was a good TV show. I liked the show even more than the movie.
DHD: What’s your favorite type of music or your favorite artist?
Brady White: Recently I’ve been listening to Drake. He released a new album, and it’s really good. A lot of guys on the team listen to him.
DHD: That’s kind of surprising because your faith is such an important part of your life and structure to succeed, and Drake can be pretty explicit.
Brady White: Yeah, he could be a little. I definitely enjoy Christian music on the mornings we have off or on the weekends, but when it comes to football and hanging out with the guys, I listen to other stuff too. I’ve even put on some country which I never listened to before. I lived with Nick Ralston, and he got me into that. When I’m getting ready for a game I’ll definitely listen to some Hip Hop, R&B, Rap… stuff like that.
DHD: What are you studying?
Brady White: Business Communication. (Do you have any clear view of what you’d like to do after football?) I’m really passionate about football and want to play in the NFL, but after football, I want to stay around the game. I don’t know if it’s going to be on the business side or if it’s coaching. I’ll cross that bridge when I get there.
DHD: Do you have any tattoos or plan on getting any?
Brady White: I do not have any tattoos. I’m not planning on getting any myself, but I really like looking at them. I like seeing and hearing about people’s reasons behind their tattoos. It’s intriguing. If I ever did get one, it would be something really meaningful to me, and it wouldn’t be big.
DHD: Last question. Super important. Describe your fashion sense?
Brady White: (Laughs) Fashion sense? I’d say I’m pretty relaxed. I’m not coming out with any outfits they’re going to write about or that are going to get me on the news. Most of the time I wear a lot of football stuff, sweats and t-shirts. So it’s pretty simple!
Forks Up, Brady.
