2019-20 Sun Devil Hoops

Under Coach Bobby Hurley, ASU is coming off back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearance for the first time since 1980-81. The Sun Devils are the only Pac-12 team to make the NCAAs each of the past two seasons and now has one of its best rosters top-to-bottom in years. Still, ASU finds itself as a 5-point underdog in Shanghai, China against the Colorado Buffaloes. 

The “Shanghai Tilt” is proof Time Travel is possible. The game is being played Saturday (Nov. 9) at 11:30 a.m. in China, which is 8:30 p.m. in Tempe on Friday. ASU has averaged 80.04 points per game the past two seasons, the best mark in the Pac-12. But listen, they are going to run and score in volume this year. Look for that number to improve! 

Tonight in Shanghai, Bobby Hurley takes Remy Martin and the crew up against a very highly-touted and well-coached Colorado Buffalo team picked in some circles to win the Pac-12 Conference.

Arizona State is easily worth giving up 6.5 points against this version of the Colorado Buffalo team.  Not one Sun Devil is mentioned in much of any National discussion, and this is easily one of their best rosters I have seen in 30 years.  Bobby Hurley has people who can attack the rim, protect the rim, pass, control the ball, and right now, seven guys who can shoot from the new NCAA 3-point line.

Watch for Taeshon Cherry, Kimani Lawrence, Rob Edwards, Khalid Thomas, Elias Valtonen and Alonzo Verge Jr. to thrash Colorado’s defense.  Look for Romello “The Big Fundamental” White to methodically break down the Buffalo interior and to also have a few more rebounds and assists than he averaged last campaign.
