National University 2013 Holiday Bowl Schedule of Events

The 2013 Holiday Bowl Game between ASU and Texas Tech is in just 11 days. If you are planning on heading to San Diego for the game, here is the schedule of the Bowl activities starting on December 26. 

Thursday, Dec. 26

TEAM DAY AT SEAWORLD


Both teams take a break from their busy practice schedule to enjoy one of San Diego’s most famous attractions – SeaWorld San Diego. During their time in the park, players, coaches and fans alike can meet Shamu, count the teeth on a shark, interact with dolphins and come face to face with polar bears!

Friday, Dec. 27

TEAM DAY AT THE WORLD FAMOUS SAN DIEGO ZOO

Both teams take a break from their busy practice schedule to enjoy one of San Diego’s most famous attractions – The World-Famous San Diego Zoo. The Zoo has some of the most rare, wild and exotic creatures on earth. Journey to the depths of Monkey Trails and Forest Tales, swing by the Children’s Zoo and visit their amazing habitats.

Saturday, Dec. 28

BATTLE OF THE BANDS

The San Diego Office Interiors Battle of the Bands in the Sails Pavilion is set to begin at 11 a.m., prior to the U.S. Bank Kickoff Luncheon.   

KICKOFF LUNCHEON

The U.S. Bank Kickoff Luncheon begins at noon at the San Diego Convention Center and will entertain more than 1,500 football fans. Players, coaches and fans will gather to enjoy an afternoon of sports highlights and gourmet dining at this annual National University Holiday Bowl event. Both head coaches will discuss their teams and the upcoming big game, and other speakers will also include ESPN personalities and players from each team. Afterwards, everyone will enjoy a season’s worth of highlights on the big screens and learn more about the journey that led these two teams to San Diego.
 
Each table includes eight seats for you and your guests. At each table will be two players and/or team officials as your personal guests. The cost of a reserved table is $500, while individual seats are $50 each. For more information, please call (619) 283-5808.

SUN DEVIL SIZZLIN’ SUNDAY NIGHT AT THE LOCAL

Join fellow Sun Devil fans in San Diego for a casual get together the night before the Holiday Bowl at The Local in downtown San Diego. Fans, staff and administrators from the ASU Alumni Association, Sun Devil Athletics and Arizona State University, and others, will be celebrating the 2013 season all night long. www.thelocalsandiego.com

Monday, Dec. 30

BUMBLE BEE FOODS 5K RUN/WALK


The 18th Annual Bumble Bee 5K Run will take place on the corner of Harbor Drive and Ash St. and finishes near Tuna Harbor Park. PORT OF SAN DIEGO BIG BAY BALLOON PARADE
 

Come see America’s largest balloon parade along the scenic, bayside streets of downtown San Diego. Beginning at 10 a.m. on Harbor Drive and featuring the Sun Devil Marching Band, Spirit Squad and Sparky, this exciting family event brings together world-class marching bands, magnificent floats, entertaining drill teams, and a procession of enormous balloons-more than any other parade! Over 100,000 street-side spectators will enjoy the parade along with a nationwide television audience. Grandstand seating is available for additional charge, but otherwise is free to attend. SPARKY’S TOUCHDOWN TAILGATE

Be a part of Sparky’s Touchdown Tailgate, the official ASU pre-game party at the Holiday Bowl. Celebrate with fellow alumni, fans, and students in beautiful San Diego. Tailgate will include hot buffet meal, unlimited beer, wine, or soda (cash bar available), and lots of Maroon and Gold. The tailgate is open to ALL Sun devils and includes special guest speakers, Spirit Squad, and of course, Sparky!
 

TIME  4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., with kick-off at 7:15 p.m.
