Last night in Las Vegas, Sun Devil point guard and team leader Jahii Carson took his game to another level and lit up the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels for 40 points to lead ASU (4-0) to victory 86-80.
His previous career high was 34 points against Stanford last year.
Carson joins fellow Sun Devils Eddie House, James Harden and Paul Williams in the 40 point club.
We all knew that Jahii could score, but it was the way he did it that was so impressive. He hit 3 pointers when his team needed it most, penetrated the lane to score and change the momentum of the game, and passed to his open teammates on the wing so they could have open looks.
Everything you want in a leader.
It was a beautiful sight to watch not only because of his elite talent level, but his smooth and effortless approach when taking over a game. But the biggest thing Carson brings to this team is his desire to succeed and his will to win. You can feel it when you watch the games. He puts the team on his back and carries them to victory.
Following his performance last night, social media was buzzing about Carson.
Jahii Carson has already announced that this will be his last season in Tempe, so do yourself a favor and get to some games at Well Fargo Arena this season. There is no doubt that Carson will have his #1 jersey hanging from the rafters in the future.
The next two home games for Sun Devil Basketball are on Friday (11/22) against Bradley and Monday (11/25) against Marquette. Both games tip off at 7 PM.
