Los Angeles, CA – Coach Todd Graham took the podium at the 2013 Pac-12 Media Day alongside team leaders Will Sutton and Taylor Kelly, all wearing wristbands that said “Any Challenge.”
And there is no doubt that the ASU Football team is prepared and confident to meet any challenge in 2013.
Officially picked to finish second behind UCLA in the Pac-12 South Division, the Sun Devils believe they can do one better by not only winning the Pac-12 South, but also earning a trip to GrandDaddy’s house at the Rose Bowl. That is the realistic goal in Tempe this year, nothing less.
Regarding Sutton, Coach Graham added, “He’s up to 305 lbs, he’s stronger, he’s bigger and he’s faster, so he’s put himself in a position to have an even better year than he had last year.”
“There is a lot of excitement around our program right now,” Coach Graham pointed out. “We have a team that loves each other, we’ve got guys that have invested and have worked hard, and they have put themselves in a position to compete for a championship.”
The stars seem to be aligned for the Sun Devils, and words like Pac-12 Champions, Rose Bowl and National Championship were mentioned by Graham and company without batting an eye. Entering the second season under the direction of Graham and his staff, there is plenty of talent and everything will be left on the field.
Graham also added, “This team is in great shape and one of the best teams I have been around, both mentally and physically.”
Maximum preparation has been the theme over the summer, but it will be a great challenge for the program to conquer all the opponents in the Pac-12 gauntlet. Senior All-American Will Sutton believes that in order for that to happen, it starts with his relationships with his teammates.
“I feel like the relationship between me and my teammates are stronger than we have ever had,” Sutton said. “We believe in one another and don’t have to worry about someone doing their job because we know that they’re going to get it done, and we feel like we have all the confidence in the world to accomplish our goal.”
Regarding Sutton, Coach Graham added, “He’s up to 305 lbs, he’s stronger, he’s bigger and he’s faster, so he’s put himself in a position to have an even better year than he had last year.” If that’s the case, Sun Devil fans have a lot to look forward to in 2013.
