(McKissic’s Video Highlight’s below article)
It looks as if Jahii Carson is going to get another scorer to join him in the Sun Devils’ back court.
Carson took to Twitter Tuesday to welcome Shaquielle McKissic who verbally committed to ASU after also considering West Virginia.
“Follow my new Sundevil teammate @shaqinthbox he’s gonna cause alot of ruckus with me in the backcourt with him salute.”
Carson, who averaged 18.5 points per game in 2012, was a big reason that McKissic decided to become a Sun Devil.
“I talked to Jahii a lot and he’s a player that makes other players better,” McKissic told Devil’s Digest’s Hod Rabino. “He told me that he was blown away with
the way I played and said that he was excited to be running with me this year.”
McKissic is known as a great scorer and averaged 22.5 points per game at Edmonds Community College in Lynnwood, Wash. It’s an area that the Sun Devils will be looking to improve on after suffering key departures at the end of the season.
ASU lost two of its top three scorers from last year’s team that averaged 24.7 points per game. Wing Carrick Felix, who averaged 14.6 points per game, left for the NBA while guard Evan Gordan (10.1 ppg) transferred to Indiana.
Although McKissic has the ability to score in the paint, his moneymaker is a smooth jump shot. The 6-foot-5 guard will improve ASU’s scoring from behind the arc where the Sun Devils only shot 34.6 percent, good enough for sixth in the Pac-12.
Shaquielle McKissic’s commitment is the sixth of ASU’s 2013 recruiting class and the Sun Devils’ second junior college transfer. The other is 6-foot-7 forward Sai Tummala who came to ASU from Salt Lake Community College after originally walking on at Michigan as a freshman.
