Knoxville, TN – #22 Sun Devil baseball (4-2) hit the road this weekend to face the Tennessee Volunteers at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. ASU left Knoxville with 2 wins in the 3-game series, putting the Devils at 13-2 all-time against the Volunteers and 37-22-1 against the SEC.
Friday (2/22) ASU 4 – UT 0
In the opening game of the series, the Sun Devils were led by pitcher Trevor Williams and outfielder Trever Allen. Williams pitched seven scoreless innings with 8 strikeouts/ 1 walk. Allen provided the power with a 3 run homer in the 5th inning, to put ASU ahead for good. Reliver Brett Lilek closed out the 8th and 9th innings for the save.Check out the highlights from Game #1 on Friday night.
Saturday (2/23) UT 11 – ASU 2
Tennessee bounced back on Saturday as ASU was only able to score 2 runs, both of which came in the first two innings. Tennessee put 5 runs on the board in the 5th inning, and the Devils couldn’t recover. Pitcher Adam McCreery (0-1) took the loss for ASU.
Sunday (2/24) ASU 5 – UT 1
The Sun Devils regrouped for Sunday’s Game #3. Key players in the Win were pitcher Ryan Kellogg, infielder James McDonald and outfielder Trever Allen. Kellogg pitched through 6 innings, recording 6 strikeouts/ no walks. Both McDonald and Allen hit 2-run homers, and relievers Ryan Burr and Matt Dunbar closed out the game on the mound.

The Sun Devils head to Surprise, Ariz., for the 11th annual Coca-Cola Classic at Surprise Stadium. The Sun Devils will play preseason No. 1 Arkansas twice on Feb. 28 and March 2, respectively, and will also face Pacific on March 1 and Gonzaga on March 3. All four games for the Sun Devils will follow a Major League Spring Training game and will begin at approximately 4 p.m. (MT) or 50 minutes after the conclusion of the preceding Spring Training game.
