This is a follow up to our September 21 article, 15 Year-old Explains His Reasons to Attend the ASU Game Saturday Night.
Joey Palomarez began going to ASU football games with his Dad when he was 3 years-old. He’s been paying his Sun Devil Club dues out of his own pocket since he started getting his allowance. Now he’s a sophomore at Queen Creek High School in Queen Creek, AZ.
By every account, Joey is a DieHard Sun Devil. He flew to both Missouri and Cal to be there with his team through a tough road loss followed by a redeeming victory over a California PAC-12 conference foe in their house. His disdain for the other university in Arizona is formidable. He’s been a season-ticket holder since he was nine, and now he’s got his young friends hooked on ASU Football as well. These kids know more than the numbers on the jerseys. They know the player under the helmet and could debate you on their strengths & weaknesses.
After the game at Cal, Joey clamored alongside the rails of the visitors tunnel to high-five Sun Devil players coming off the field. Moments later, Coach Graham threw his wrist band up to the fans.
Joey’s got two years till he can apply to and hopefully attend the university he’s loved his whole life.
Home-grown pride is alive and well in the Valley of the Sun, and the “Best of the West”, ASU’s Student Section in Sun Devil Stadium, has a bright future. #SunDevil4Life
